Lithium battery labels are used to identify the battery, indicate safety precautions, and comply with regulations. They may include the UN number, a handling label, a Class 9 label, or a Cargo Aircraft Only (CAO) label.
UN number
A 4-digit number that identifies the battery type and packaging method
For example, UN3480 is for lithium ion batteries, and UN3090 is for lithium metal batteries
Handling label
Indicates that the package requires careful handling
May include warnings about flammability
May specify procedures in case of package damage
Class 9 label
A standardized label that indicates the package contains hazardous materials
